I have been welding for years with no training and mixed results. I took a 3 hour beginner mig class with Brenna. I thought I made some progress in class. I am welding some projects in my shop this week and my welds have never looked so good. Still room for improvement. Will have to go back for another. Dying to take a tig class.

I can't say enough good things about this place! We signed up for the Rocket Stove class at the Littleton location, and it exceeded our expectations. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and take the time to explain not only how to weld, but also the science behind the process. They're also patient and encouraging with those of us who had never welded before, making the whole experience comfortable and fun. By the end of the class, we walked away with a finished rocket stove and a new skill. I would definitely recommend Kilroy's Workshop to anyone looking to learn welding or just try something new!

I have nothing but great things to say about Kilroy's! I've taken several classes at the Littleton location, and all of the instructors were fantastic! I also took the metallurgy class today (this one was taught by the owner), and I highly recommend it after you've gotten some forging under your belt. If you think you may be interested, sign up for a few blacksmithing foundations classes (I recommend taking this at least twice before other blacksmithing classes)! You won't regret it!

A couple of months ago, I had scheduled my son for a week long class but between then and now, he got hired for a summer job. I was worried I was going to have to cancel the class and lose out on the money I'd spent. I reached out Kilroy's to see what we could do, and Jessica went above and beyond to help us and I am so thankful!

My three sons, aged 9 - 15, attended Kilroy's this year at the new Littleton location. They were so richly blessed by this opportunity to work with their hands and grow new skills. The teachers were so wonderful; they felt like family! Chayim was a wonderful leader and helped my boys to THRIVE in their new skills. Kilroy's has been a place of joy and growth. We are so grateful!

Five of us did the blacksmith foundations class as a birthday present for my 16-year-old son. It was a phenomenal time together. Finley was our teacher and she did an excellent job. Everyone from the front desk staff, to Jessica over email and the other teachers created such a great environment for everyone. We were exhausted afterwards! You all have trained your staff well and paid attention to everything that makes it a good experience for people. Well done.

I took one of their weekend classes for making a small, antler-handle knife. It was a lot of fun and I learned so much. The class size was small and the instructors and staff were all very knowledgeable, happy to answer questions, attentive, and generally fun to work with. Shout out to you guys, Cade, Grayson, and Zack. You guys are the best.

Son and I took the beginners blacksmith class yesterday with Cade teaching. He did an amazing job showing us what to do and keeping everyone safe. Nice small class size and plenty of opportunities to learn. We both chose different styles of blades. Cade was patient with our very beginner skill sets and even stayed extra time to make sure we all had a finished if rough product. Highly recommend and will be returning for another class in the future.

My 10 year old homeschooler had an absolute blast with the blacksmithing foundations class. I like that they tailor how much instruction you get based on how much you want it. Learned a lot and had so much fun. Nice small class. We will definitely be back.

Amazing place! My son had never done blacksmithing before and learned a lot in just the one class. My son has a hard time with groups of people and did great there. They are used to kids with sensory issues and make everyone feel welcome.
We will try some of the other types of classes they offer, like 3D printing.

Nothing but great things to say about this place. I signed up initially in a Denver area blacksmith and it was too small for the class to get anything done and we mostly watched our instructor.
At Kilroy’s, it’s massive and they have plenty of space and equipment for 20 people. The instructors instruct and then get out of the way.
The vibe is encouraging and self deprecating and fun.
I also found I’m good at hitting things with a hammer.

Seth and Zach did a great job helping my son and I through the full day mini-knife session. They explained how each step would be done and helped us get back on track when our newbie (had never done anything like this before) talents took us off track a bit. Awesome day!

Excellent hands-on learning experience in a warm, family friendly environment. My husband, my kids, and I have all taken classes at Kilroy's. We've done blacksmithing, welding, and CAD. The instructors are very knowledgeable and teach in a calm, supportive way. We never felt rushed, and were always encouraged. My youngest son started taking the shop class when he was 10, and it has "energized" him (his words) more than anything else he's done (including sports and other activities.)
It is actually incredible to see children as young as 9 using power tools and working with incredibly hot metal. The staff takes safety very seriously. They teach safe handling of tools and projects. The shop is clean and orderly, and have the students help keep it that way. The kids know this is serious, and there is no goofing around, especially near the equipment.
I hope to put my kids in the Life Skills class soon. It covers many things a homeowner needs to know. We also hope to put our kids in the HSE (Homeschool Enrichment) program.
The owner has a lot of industry experience and keeps apprised of what is happening in industry. He is people oriented, which is a big part of the success of Kilroy's.

I've been frequenting Kilroy's Workshop for about 4.5 years now. When I came there my first time with my 9 year old son in tow, the staff was very helpful and kind, and they helped my son make his very first item out of metal. Since then I've taken many of their classes, and also taken advantage of their MakerSpace. The shop is extremely well-equipped for blacksmithing, welding, jewelry, woodworking.. and several other things I probably missed. Ron and his staff are amazing to work with -- almost all of them started out as students, but eventually transitioned to teachers. Even though I live north of Denver and have other small shops near me, I still prefer to visit Kilroy's Workshop whenever I can.

My 11 and 10 year old really enjoy the Homeschool blacksmithing classes. I highly recommend this to all my homeschool groups. My husband, who is in HVAC, is so pleased with what the kids are learning and the instructors are excellent! Please check them out!!!

As a student, Kilroy's Workshop is a great place for people of all ages to learn useful skills. Kilroy's offers a morally healthy, clean environment and teaches a variety of valuable trades. They were incredibly patient with all of the students (ages ranged from 9 up to 14 or so).
My boys had so much fun getting to learn how to make their knives that they were ready to go again as soon as they ended class. All 3 of my boys walked away with awesome knives in hand.
If you are interested in blacksmithing, or welding, I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

I was given a tour of the facility yesterday. Two of my grandsons are taking classes there. I believe Jeremiah gave us the tour. What an awesome place to learn. The gift of knowledge has to be one of the greatest things to recieve. These kids are learning real life skills they can use to forge their own path in life. Just amazing.

Great experience! Kaiden and Eli did a phenomenal job etching a name and unit crest onto a sabre for a gift for our daughter. Very intricate work, expertly done. To ensure perfection on this gift, they did a practice run on the inscription for our approval first. We were impressed with that customer-oriented approach to excellence. I can't speak glowingly enough about Kilroy's. The instructors are talented and the entire staff is very kind. The course offerings are vast, including homeschool enrichment programs this year! We had some scheduling needs for my son's class, and the staff response has overwhelmingly been "let's find a solution!" I am thrilled to send my kids to this community and look forward to trying some of the classes myself soon.

We had a great time here with a foundation class that me and my kiddo both took. Good experience for first time attendees, with lots of help and tips from the staff, and a cool shop environment for multiple classes going all at once.
Instructors and staff were all focused on safety, everyone having a good experience, and a good finished product that you made yourself. We can't wait for our full day class next month.

This may be a bit long....but worth it. I have been watching "Forged in Fire" for who knows how long. Mentioned a few times to my wife while watching that it looked fun to try. She found Kilroy's Workshop and gifted me an intro class making a simple knife. I went having no idea what to expect.
I entered Kilroy's and was greeted by Magni. He is 17 and has been in blacksmithing since he was 10. Got to say, Magni handled himself like a much older adult. Super friendly and made the class of five feel welcome. While we were waiting for class to begin, Ron (the owner) came out and greeted everyone and spent a bit of time talking about his crew, his business activities and really engaged the whole class.
Entering the workshop floor was a bit daunting....2000F furnaces going, employees on the production side working, and our class of 5. Magni gave us an overview, and then took us to get our hammers. Best advice given of the night "Make sure you get a hammer you can swing for 2 hours"....and he was not kidding.
Magni then walked us through, stage by stage, of what we were doing, helped correct goofs and most importantly, Magni took extra time with some of the younger class members to make sure they were progressing. Swinging hammers on steel is a challenge and Magni really helped everyone along. I was using a 2-3lb hammer, which may sound easy, but swing that on steel for 2 hours and tell me how you feel. Magni was using a 12lb hammer and I had to ask him to use it. After 28 hits on my steel (I counted) I went back to my 2-3lb hammer. Holy cow. I have new and deep admiration for blacksmiths and the incredible strength and endurance they posses.
At the end of class, I had a knife...that I made...from a simple blank of steel. Is it pretty? To me, absolutely. Perfect? Not by a long shot, but with the help of Magni and the rest of the Kilroy crew, I have a creation via a process I have never done.
If you are looking to try something new, try Kilroy's beginning class. If you are apprehensive because "I have never done it before", the team at Kilroy's will make you feel welcome, and trust me you will be surprised how fun it can be....and at the end of it you will have something unique that you created...and you may be a bit tired too!

Coming back for other courses.
I went to the basic blacksmith course and really enjoyed it. What I got is not pretty, but functional as I wanted for a first attempt.
While I should have asked more questions, I also suggest with new folks that the instructors point out mistakes and bad technique. Overall a little more proactive instructions.
For me, this criticism doesn't degrade the experience, with the freedom of experience its own reward.

Great place to learn anything related to metalwork up to and including professional welding certification. I'm interested in the jewelry classes they offer which has been a great deal of fun. And has given me inspiration to continue my learning in metalworking. I've also taken a blacksmithing class and I was shocked at the number of people taking classes on a weekday morning. So far I've taken the Stick, TIG, and MIG welding classes. The instructors have been knowledgeable and informative. Class sizes are small and weekends book out months in advance so plan accordingly. The only negative is that they are way down by the airport so it's a bit of a drive.

I just finished another great class this evening. The staff was great, helpful, and encouraging. I’m looking forward to getting to work with all these guys again: Jeff, Drew, and Jeremiah. Very fun and an enjoyable experience, all the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I did the basic course to make a viking knife. However, there are far more options. While we were waiting for our time slot, someone came out of the forge with a katana in the making. You can also use their forge for whatever you wish for a hourly fee if you don't want to take the classes.

I've wanted to learn blacksmithing for a while and was told about Kilroy's shop. The website has good info on classes and a lot of variety. My son and I went and it was a lot of fun. They also have people to do projects for you if you need welding or blacksmithing.
The owner is a really great guy, providing a family friendly environment for kids to come learn and work on their skills.

I've never seen anyone so confident about someone as Ron is about his students/staff. The shop is huge on being family friendly so no cussing or anything like that. The instructors are so incredibly knowledgeable. Noah said he'd explain things as little or as much as we'd want and he really did deliver! All the staff are passionate, radiant, and one big family. I can't wait to come back and do more classes. Thank you Kilroys for completely changing my idea of what a blacksmithing shop would be like. I was so scared /nervous walking in and by the end I walked around like I owned the place 🤣

Long Version: I had hired a professional blacksmith at another place to make me a custom piece. Who didn't even attempt to follow the design as it was drawn out.
No amount of skill or pay can make someone care about you or your project. So after this other blacksmith ghosted me I was left with an unusable piece.
I had called initially to see if someone at Kilroy's Workshop could make the piece for me, and instead Ron recommended that I take some classes so I could tweak, and adjust, and make what I want the way I wanted it.
With the help of the excellent instructors if I had been making a project like a knife or sword or something of that nature I would have left in the first class with something any normal person would have been proud to have made.
Instead I brought in this project of my own, this deceptively simple seeming silly nightmare of twists, and angles, and body formed fitting precision.
I am on my 5th prototype of the design, found out that what I originally wanted would have never even ever worked anyway.
To quote Jeremiah, "There is the right way, the wrong way, and the long way." Of course, being me I have to go the long way.
Yet patiently; each time; they answer my questions, provide recommendations, and assist me when I need it. More importantly they also give me the space to try it a different way, without pressure.
Each time I visit I learn a new tool, a new skill, improve in my hammer/tong control, the piece improves and I get to know their amazing staff a little better.
In summary, the value offered in service, quality, courtesy, and experience, immensely far exceeds cost.
The world would be a far richer and warmer place if we had more people like this.

I ended up getting the family membership and drag my daughter here from time to time. You can do blacksmithing, casting, welding, make jewelry, and anything between. Friendly and informative staff always ready to help. Look at it as a maker space with classes and people ready to help. I did 4 separate classes here and enjoyed every one.

I have to give some massive shout out to kilroy's workshop. They did some amazing work for my motorcycle for welding, after so many places wouldnt give it the time of day. There was some delay due to work scheduling (which they had informed me about ahead of time) and there was so much respectful dialogue. This is what I look for when I give my money to places, and I cant recommend them highly enough. GREAT WORK!

My 14 year old son and I took a Stick Welding Class here today. What a great time! All the staff were very professional and super friendly. Great student to teacher ratio as my son and I had one instructor. Furthermore, my son and I had our own practice tables, so we didn't have to share equipment! It was total hands on too! We hope to go back on a more regular occasion to grow our welding skills.

This place is wonderful. Their one day knife forging class was awesome. My wife and I are definitely coming back! I recommend everyone to go and try out forging or welding here!
EDIT: Two years later, and it's even better. They've expanded their campus, and offer many more classes now. Can't wait to come back!

Wide variety of classes from novice to master. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and encouraging instructional staff. They even run a kid-friendly forge. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn to work metals or just needs a place to do their own work.

Taken two classes, and they've absolutely gotten me hooked, even with the 80 minute drive time from Denver. Even if you've never smithed before, sign up for an all-levels smithing or a mini-knives class. You won't be disappointed.

For 3 beginners with no experience in the trade at all, our instructor Brian was awesome! He was patient, friendly & knowledgeable. What a great experience. If you watch Forged in Fire then taking a class is an opportunity you shouldn't pass up. Getting instruction from a FIF champion was a real highlight. In case you're wondering, it's a family atmosphere and you will be made to feel at home.

We all chose to make 'Viking knives" (see photos) and all three of us were able to complete the projects with time to spare. We spent the rest of the class time learning how to make traditional "square nails". These are a great skill builder. While it was certainly hot I have nothing but positive things to say. It was a great afternoon with my kids and I am certainly looking forward to coming back for more classes! If you have any interest in crafting things give this a shot you will not be disappointed!

My son bought me a session for my birthday. I had no idea what I was getting into, but this place is 🔥. Made a viking knife during a 3 hour session where the employees helped me correct my mistakes and create something really cool. Definitely a great gift for someone who likes working with their hands. Suggest bringing your own leather gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.

I just finished the Tomahawk class at Kilroy's and I'm blown away by how awesome the whole team is. From the get go, you feel extremely welcome into the shop. They run a family business and you feel like family while you're there. I unfortunately had to run out to an appointment afterwards or I would have loved to stop and talked more. Also really want to buy a shirt so have to go back!
Strongly recommend you try it out regardless of age, even if you don't think it's for you! I will be back, hopefully in late November when the blisters heal!

What an incredible day! I walked into a lesson at Kilroys Workshop with zero blacksmithing experience and left with a high carbon steel knife (complete with hardwood handle) that I made myself! Matt is an amazing teacher and balances modeling technique with giving you lots of freedom to experience everything for yourself. From the first minute to the last, you really get to own every part of the process and I can't wait to get back! Highly recommended for makers of all kinds!

My 11 year old son got a class as a Christmas gift and I truly think it was the best gift ever. The three hour class was totally enjoyable and made a lasting impression on him. Do I need any experience?
Not for beginner classes. If a class needs previous experience or a prerequisite, check its description in the class catalog before you register. If you’re unsure where to start, call us and we’ll help.
What ages can attend?
Kilroy’s teaches students from age 9 through adult. Each class has its own age range, so check the listing rather than assuming every class is suitable for every student.
Where do I find dates, prices and registration?
Our class catalog is the source for schedules, prices, prerequisites and available seats. Open classes and registration.
What should I wear or bring?
For all hot work, including blacksmithing and welding, wear closed-toe shoes, jeans and a cotton shirt. Absolutely no synthetic fabrics. We provide welding gear.
Can we discuss learning or accessibility needs?
Yes. Please contact us before registering to discuss your needs, the class environment and appropriate support. We’ll work with you to assess the fit for the specific class.
Can I bring a private group?
Yes. Private groups start at 5 students, are custom scheduled and receive 20% off the list price. Choose a 3-hour forging project, full-day blade or axe project, or a private welding class. No experience is required. Plan your group visit.
